Welcome to the Messy Middle Road Trip podcast. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: what are we doing for others?” For many people, giving is something that becomes a family tradition with time spent at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving or sponsoring a family in need with gifts for Christmas. It’s important to remember that organizations of service have year-round needs. We’ll be discussing how we can find a cause that aligns with our hearts and what we can do to become an inspired philanthropist.
Today we are thrilled to have two amazing representatives from Providence Ministries with us. Executive Director Shannon Rudder and Director of Programs, Jennie Adamczyk are joining us in the convertible. We will learn about the woman that started it all nearly 40 years ago with the creation of Kate’s Kitchen which provides a warm meal to everyone, no questions asked. We’ll also discuss how to serve and support our local community organizations throughout the holidays and year round. This is an episode you won’t want to miss so hop in the convertible and let’s hit the road.
Today we’ll discuss:
- Foundress Sister Margaret McCleary and how Providence Ministries has expanded in the Pioneer Valley since 1980
- Plans to continue her legacy and ensure that this compassionate work lives on
- An overview of the programs at Providence Ministries
- What homelessness looks like
- What non-profit organizations need the most
- Ways that the community can connect with Providence Ministries to provide support
